Rektchordz

Behind the limelight of tech-funks new rising star 'Rektchordz' is 23 year old Cornish dweller Jamie Smithson; who has been mastering the art of music production since back in 2001. Hearing the fresh sounds of the early tech-funk movement was enough for Jamie to set his sights and begin to create & shape a sound. First finding light in his work was the well acclaimed Newquay based House & breaks label 'Play Recordings'; label head Si Gordon recognized the skillful and enthusiastic qualities that Jamie brought to the table and quickly snapped up Rektchordz' single 'Breaking logic'.

Subsequently, following this were a long line of tech-esque, genre-bending breakbeat releases, with labels such as: Unstable, Bomtraxx, Sinister, Mofo, Control Breaks, Breakin Even, Brighton Breaks; all helping see Rektchordz move throughout the scene, dropping savage tracks such as 'Turn these speakers up' which rocked dance floors worldwide and earned a long stay at the number 2 spot in the Beatport breaks charts. Along with his original work, Rektchordz has turned heads with inspirational remixes such as 'Refunk-mr mole' (Re-connect) gaining support from the likes of Elite force, General Midi & Butterparty  Other highlights include a 'Beta' remix of Rektchordz' 'left behind' (bomtraxx)' which received air play via Annie Nightingale on Radio One & the legend Matt Darey. Rektchordz' lastest release 'Feed your head' (U&A) has currently been remixed by techfunk pioneer 'Elite Force' and said to be "One of the tunes of the night, everytime!", by Dj James Zabiela.

2009 sees even bigger & brighter things for the young producer, with a progressing finely crafted sound and a strong motivation to push it. Expect to see Rektchordz continue to put out non-generic sounds with the finest labels in the business.
